zine-o-tron iphone app

May 18, 2010

zine-o-tron iphone appHear ye, hear ye.
Format and the lovely people at 2moro mobile and films on the fly are joining forces to create a neat little iphone app so we can all make digital zines.

Yes, that’s right, DIGITAL ZINES!

If you think that sound kinda shiny and want to help test the first version we’ve made, do this:

* write an email to diy_comic@2moro.com.au

* yep, that’s it.

Your amazing digital zine creations will be published to the internets for the world to see, you will be famous, zillions of dollars will pour out of the headphones jack, you may even be given a key to the city.*

So what are you waiting for? Email already.

Rather large thanks to Fee Plumley at the Digital Culture Fund for making this ridiculously good looking app happen.

Cheers, Format.

*zillions of dollars, instant fame & a key to the city are limited to the wonders of your own imagination.

Painting Format!

February 24, 2010

We’ve been getting messy this week covering the bright blue, pink and yellow walls of the Format venue. Its not that we didn’t like those blinding colours, but all the artwork we’re going to hang on them might have been swallowed.

So, here’s a sneak peek at 3.5 hours of painting in 14 seconds.

(sorry we couldn’t embed it here, the free wordpress blog setup years ago doesn’t let us! boo hiss)

Video provided by the awesome Joel (jms.id.au) shot one frame every 30 seconds on his dev version of the One Laptop Per Child (laptop.org) that he helped develop.

Music by Wisp.

THANK YOU all so much for coming along to Format Festival 2009, I think you’ll agree it was a rather large bunch of fun.

Now that we’ve cleaned up the venue and regretfully handed in the keys its time to start planning for next year.

There’s a couple ideas going around about having a venue for the year round to put on little events leading up to Format Festival 2010.

If you’d like to take part in the planning process, come and meet up with us at the Exeter hotel, Rundle street, 7pm every Tuesday evening.

Cheers, Simon.

Street art makes me smile

February 25, 2009

Hello there fellow Adelaide street artists.

Would you like to see me smile from ear to ear? Well then submit your artwork to display at the wonderful spectacular spectacular that is ST5K street art festival on 6th March at Notcoffee.

You’ll need to submit art to my office here at 28 Austin St in the city by Friday 27th (9am to 5pm), or else I can pick it up from your place on Saturday 28th. Just email me.

We’ve already got a really nice little selection of Adelaide talent, but I know there’s more of you out there hiding in sneaky places.

Cheers, Simon.

Are you a street artist?

December 15, 2008

Well if you are, we want to hear from you! The plan is to put on a massive Street Art Festival simply named ST. If you’re keen to exhibit some of your work, or even just come and have a paint on the day, then send us an email.
